Education and Upskilling in Quarantine time! - Access free online reskill and upskill education courses

The current pandemic crisis has turned into an unexpected and unprecedented tsunami for the global economy, with a particular impact on the automotive sector. Non-essential production units went into compulsory shutdown, partially or totally, dismissing or temporarily laying-off workers.

The known consequence is the economic disruption for a myriad of SMEs linking the value-chain of essential sectors to the economy. Almost all of the major automotive manufacturers, hence the suppliers, have been gradually closing production lines, affecting 2,6 million workers across the 27 member states and the UK. These figures are referred by ACEA, and are part of a much wider set of 13,8million, direct and indirect, jobs in the European Union.

To better cope with these challenging quarantine times, DRIVES and ALBATTS blueprint projects jointly decided to offer inactive or laid-off employees the opportunity to take advantage of available online trainings and devote their time to education!

Several online engineering courses, accessible for free, correlated to the automotive industry and e-mobility, were collected. These lessons are teaching materials that are prepared and made available by major renowned universities, around the world.

The first set of FREE ONLINE courses[1] selected by DRIVES and ALBATTS partnerships are gathered on a jointly set-up platform, meant to facilitate and guide reskill and upskill home education of the workforce in the Automotive sector.

We invite you to join our individual and group trainings.

Get some of your colleagues and friends together and have a weekly one-hour discussion meeting! You can do it online, using Skype, Face-time, Microsoft Teams or a similar tool.

A Massive Online Open Course  (MOOC) course is a globally available web-based course from a university with special on-the-edge-research knowledge in an area.

MOOC courses are designed to be short – 4 to 8 weeks is most common, and demands normally 4-8 hours studying a week. This makes it possible to study while working – but the courses are not at all ‘work-free’ courses. As often they are very professionally made. Some courses have specific calendars, while other courses are self-paced and starts anytime.
